sex is in everywhere nowadays so that you feel under constant pressure to be havng great sex all of the time. a wine bar called ‘orgasm’ (what do you tell the kids?), fairly explicit lesbian sex in Black Swan which was only a 15 (well know fact that 13 year olds will often go to these movies with the blessing of unwitting parents), paedophilia and sexual inappropriateness all over the news any time of the day, forget the watershed! porn is the extreme of course but is equally easily accessible whether by design or mistake. being open about sex is fine and enjoying it, even better. but lets not forget that human beings are not one dimensional. there are other things to enjoy in life.

I worry about the availability of porn for young men (and women). Young men have always explored porn as a way of learning about sex but what’s available now is so much easier to access and so full-on I worry that they don’t know how to interpret what they’re seeing and know that it’s not reality. This is why sex AND relationships education is so important. Giving young people a forum to discuss what they’ve watched honestly, and also to talk about what a healthy sexual relationship looks and feels like means that porn will have less of an impact on their actual sex lives.
